Genco Pura Olive Oil Company is a front company formed by Vito Corleone in 1920. It was named after his childhood friend and consigliere, Genco Abbandando. Its headquarters were on Mott Street, Little Italy in New York City. The company eventually grew to become the largest olive-oil importer in the United States.
Genco Pura was a front for the Corleone crime family's criminal activities and its more shady operations were carried out by Salvatore Tessio and Peter Clemenza. The company became incredibly successful during the 1930s, after defeating Salvatore Maranzano in an event that would later be known as the Olive Oil War, named after the company.
